Impulse Noise Removal using Spatial Threshold Value with Efficient VLSI Architecture

Data acquisition is the most important task for any system or application that includes signals. The principal source of impulse noise in digital image arises during image acquisition and transmission. The main objective of this paper is to reduce the impulse noise with less computation complexity, less memory while achieving high quantative evaluation and visual quality. In this paper, VLSI architecture is presented for removal of impulse noise. A Modified Simple edge preserved denoising technique (MSEPD) and its VLSI architecture with spatially related threshold, applicable for all images is proposed. The simulation results show an improved PSNR when compared with previous techniques.
